Carotid artery stenosis is carotid artery lumen narrowing caused by atherosclerotic plaque, mostly occurred at bifurcation of common carotid artery and the initial segment of internal carotid artery. Some patients may develop into total occlusion. Cerebral ischemic stroke is the common reason of disability, which is closely related with carotid artery stenosis. |
